In a blog post published on Monday, Instagram has explained its decision to make Instagram ads on its platform, saying the move was “to help our advertisers better understand and serve their messages.”
According to the post, Instagram’s ads will now be displayed alongside videos on the service, which will also make it easier for people to find relevant content and content recommendations.
In an earlier blog post, the company explained that it had been trying to improve the overall experience for users by improving the user experience on the platform, which in turn meant that its ads were displayed more prominently and in a better position to help people find relevant videos and content.
“This move helps Instagram advertisers better leverage their expertise in video content discovery and recommendation to more effectively reach Instagram users, and helps us to ensure that Instagram remains a trusted place to discover, discover, and discover,” Instagram said in the post.
According to Instagram, the new ad format will also “improve our ability to show ads to Instagram-branded content, including ads from brands in our app and in the media.”
For the past few years, Instagram users have been sharing their favorite photos and videos of their lives on Instagram.
Now, the platform is allowing Instagram users to also share their own content, but it has been lacking in that respect.
“We are excited to bring Instagram to more people and to show them their content from the people that matter most to them, as well as the people they want to follow,” Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom wrote.
“We know that people are passionate about content, and that sharing their content and sharing with their friends is the best way to do that.
Instagram’s platform will become a place to share, discover and share.”
