The Republican National Committee is raising money for Scott Brown’s wife, Rebekah, as Hurricane Florence continues to wreak havoc in the state.
Brown’s wife Rebekha Brown is also expected to appear at a campaign event Wednesday evening in Portsmouth.
Brown, who is running against Sen. Chris Murphy, is expected to speak to the crowd at Portsmouth High School, according to a source familiar with the fundraiser.
“I’m here because of Rebekhan and Rebek, and the money will be for Rebek,” Brown said.
“It will be her and my money.”
The fundraising drive is being spearheaded by the Brown family’s PAC, which raised $6.4 million in July.
It is being run out of Brown’s campaign office.
The PAC is also responsible for organizing fundraisers and voter registration drives.
In addition to Brown’s fundraising effort, the committee is also offering the Brown campaign a $1,000 “donate button” to give to the campaign, and Brown’s brother, Charlie, will appear at an event Wednesday.
Brown and Murphy are running in what’s expected to be the most expensive gubernatorial race in New Hampshire history.
Murphy, who has been criticized for his lack of campaign finance experience, is also running on a platform of boosting the state’s economy, helping the middle class, and curbing government regulation.
